Prediction market on metaculus. What began as a tongue-in-cheek swipe against remarks made by the chief justice of the Supreme Court of India has snowballed into a satirical political movement on social media. The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP; “Cockroach People’s Party”) is not a registered political party but a caricature of one. [CJP’s website](https://cockroachjantaparty.org/) and social media handles were created on May 16, 2026, by Abhijeet Dipke, a political communications strategist and Boston University graduate who has previously worked with the [Aam Aadmi Party](https://aamaadmiparty.org/) (AAP). The “cockroach” in CJP’s name references comments made by Chief Justice Surya Kant a day earlier in a Supreme Court hearing, in which he compared some youth to [“cockroaches, who don’t get any employment or have any place in profession.”](https://edition.cnn.com/2026/05/22/india/india-cockroach-janta-party-gen-z-intl-hnk) As at June 8, 2026, [CJP's Instagram account](https://www.instagram.com/cockroachjantaparty/) had more than 22.5m followers and plan to continue protesting after [their first on June 6](https://www.independent.co.uk/asia/india/cockroach-janta-party-protest-today-delhi-abhijeet-dipke-b2990913.html).
