Will a new cultivated meat product receive regulatory approval for commercial sale before July 2027?

Prediction market on metaculus. Cultivated meat, also known as cultured meat, is genuine animal meat produced by cultivating animal cells in a safe and controlled environment. [The Good Food Institute](https://gfi.org/science/the-science-of-cultivated-meat/) explains that the manufacturing process begins with acquiring and banking stem cells from an animal. These cells are then grown in bioreactors (known colloquially as [cultivators](https://gfi.org/cultivated/)) at high densities and volumes. The cells are fed an oxygen-rich cell culture medium containing basic nutrients such as amino acids, glucose, fats, vitamins, and inorganic salts, and typically supplemented with growth factors and other proteins. As of [June 2026](https://gfi.org/resource/where-cultivated-meat-can-be-sold/), cultivated meat can be sold in Singapore, the United States, and Australia. A total of seven companies (UPSIDE Foods, GOOD Meat, Vow, Wildtype, Mission Barns, Believer Meats, and Gourmey/PARIMA) have received regulatory clearance in certain countries to sell multiple different cultivated meat products. The most recent instance was in [April 2026](https://parima.bio/blog/parima-becomes-the-first-european-company-to-obtain-culitvated-food-approval-across-two-species), when PARIMA secured regulatory approval for cultivated duck from the Singapore Food Agency (SFA).
