The company has since expanded to [multiple major U.S. metropolitan areas](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Waymo), including San Francisco, Los Angeles, Austin, Atlanta, Miami, Dallas, Houston, San Antonio and Orlando. Ridership has increased rapidly. Waymo reported[ more than 250,000 paid trips per week in May 2025](https://waymo.com/blog/2025/05/scaling-our-fleet-through-us-manufacturing/), while outside reporting put the figure at roughly 450,000 weekly rides by December 2025. In February 2026, [Waymo said it was providing more than 400,000 paid rides per week](https://waymo.com/blog/2026/02/waymo-raises-usd16-billion-investment-round/) across six U.S. metropolitan areas and was preparing to expand into more than 20 additional cities. By March 2026, Waymo said it was providing [500,000 paid robotaxi rides per week](https://techcrunch.com/2026/03/27/waymo-skyrocketing-ridership-in-one-chart/) across 10 U.S. cities. The company has explicitly targeted [more than 1 million paid rides per week](https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2026-02-11/waymo-co-ceo-outlines-path-to-1-million-weekly-trips-in-2026) by the end of 2026. Waymo said in December 2025 that it had begun providing [more than 1 million fully autonomous rides per month](https://waymo.com/blog/2025/12/2025-year-in-review/) and was on a path to reach that volume every week by the end of 2026. [Its co-CEO reiterated the target in February 2026](https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2026-02-11/waymo-co-ceo-outlines-path-to-1-million-weekly-trips-in-2026), while Waymo simultaneously accelerated expansion and [raised \$16 billion to support its growth](https://www.cnbc.com/2026/02/02/waymo-announced-16-billion-fundraising-round.html). As of late August 2026, Waymo's service was operating in [11 U.S. cities and providing more than 500,000 passenger journeys per week](https://www.ft.com/content/21ef2743-2cc2-41ef-8329-84adce69d975), according to the Financial Times. The company is continuing to expand its geographic footprint and fleet, but some planned international expansion has encountered regulatory delays: for example, fully driverless commercial robotaxi operations in [London now appear unlikely to begin in 2026](https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2026/aug/26/london-rollout-robotaxis-delayed-uber-wayve). Waymo is therefore relying primarily on continued U.S. expansion and increased vehicle capacity to reach the one-million-rides-per-week target.
