Frequently Asked Questions
What is Whale Alpha?
Whale Alpha is Blockcircle's whale tracking platform. It indexes the most profitable trader wallets across DEX perpetual venues (Hyperliquid, GMX, Drift, dYdX, and more) and prediction-market platforms (Polymarket, Opinion Trade), and surfaces their open positions, realised PnL, win rates, and sentiment in real time.
Which venues does Whale Alpha cover?
Whale Alpha covers DEX perpetual venues - Hyperliquid, GMX, Drift, dYdX, and additional chains - plus prediction-market platforms Polymarket and Opinion Trade. The platform also tracks token launch participants across Solana and EVM chains.
How does the wallet ranking work?
Wallets are ranked by composite score that weights realised PnL, win rate, average return per trade, holding period, and consistency. Risk classification flags wallets with concentration risk, leverage spikes, or unusual trading patterns. You can sort by any individual metric and filter by chain, source, period, and minimum activity.
Can I follow a whale automatically?
Yes - Blockcircle's Autopilot feature lets you mirror the trades of any tracked whale to your own non-custodial wallet or trade-only exchange API key. You set the size, risk caps, and kill-switch parameters. Mirroring is non-custodial - we never hold your keys or funds.
How fresh is the position data?
Position data is indexed continuously from the underlying chains and venues. Open positions update within seconds of an on-chain or API event. Aggregate PnL and win rate metrics recompute on every position change.
What is risk classification?
Risk classification labels each whale wallet based on observable risk patterns: concentration (how much of the portfolio sits in a single asset), leverage (average and peak), drawdown profile, and trading frequency. The classification helps you distinguish disciplined high-Sharpe whales from high-variance leveraged degens.
