Will Mikael Åkerfeldt and Steven Wilson release another Storm Corrosion album before 2028?
Prediction market on metaculus. In 2012, [Mikael Åkerfeldt](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mikael_%C3%85kerfeldt), the creative head of Swedish progressive-metal band Opeth, and [Steven Wilson](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steven_Wilson), of English progressive-rock band Porcupine Tree, collaborating as [Storm Corrosion](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Storm_Corrosion), released [a self-titled album](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Storm_Corrosion_\(album\)). The release was critically acclaimed, and for years fans have been hoping for a follow-up. In March 2026, it was [reported](https://www.loudersound.com/news/steven-wilson-opeth-mikael-akerfeldt-constantly-talking-new-music-storm-corrosion-2026) that Åkerfeldt and Wilson are "constantly" talking about working together again: > When asked if their next collaboration would be another Storm Corrosion album or something else, Åkerfeldt answers: “I think the idea is always Storm Corrosion 2. But, knowing me and knowing Steve, we don’t really have a blueprint to follow, apart from the fact that we did a record \[almost] 15 years ago. > > “I don’t think we’re going to follow the specific tone we set with that record, and depending on what comes out of it – if anything comes out of it – if it’s something that we would think is Storm Corrosion, then it’s Storm Corrosion.”
