Oscars 2027: Will an actor or actress receive 2+ nominations in the same category?
Prediction market on manifold. The Academy has announced some rule changes going into effect for the 99th Oscars award ceremony (March 14, 2027). For the first time, if an actor or actress is in multiple Lead or Supporting roles and places in the top 5 votes more than once, they will receive the nomination for each. Previously, if that person did place in the top 5 for multiple roles, only the one with the most votes would be selected as a nominee on awards night. For example, Robert Pattinson has roles in The Odyssey and Dune: Part 3, both releasing in 2026. If his roles are both considered in the same category (Lead or Supporting Actor) and both receive enough votes to reach the top 5 in that category, he will hold 2 of 5 nomination spots. I'll update in the comments with any possible contenders. Resolves Yes if any actor or actress holds more than one nomination in either the Best Lead or Best Supporting category. If for any reason the ceremony date is moved, I'll adjust the close date. NA in the unlikely event that a ceremony does not take place in 2027.
