On May 8, 2025, the Papacy of [Pope Leo XIV](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pope_Leo_XIV) commenced after the passing of Pope Francis. Since then [the Pope has visited](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_pastoral_trips_made_by_Pope_Leo_XIV) Turkey, Lebanon, Monaco, Algeria, Cameroon, Angola and Equatorial Guinea. His Holiness is also set to visit [Spain from June 6 to 12](https://www.vatican.va/content/leo-xiv/en/events/event.dir.html/content/vaticanevents/en/2026/6/6/viaggio-spagna.html)[, 2026](https://www.vatican.va/content/leo-xiv/en/events/event.dir.html/content/vaticanevents/en/2026/6/6/viaggio-spagna.html). Although apostolic journeys are often set well in advance, global conflicts, natural disasters and humanitarian crises can precipitate such events.
