It was announced on October 24, 2025 and confirmed for release on Xbox Series X|S, PC, and PlayStation 5 in 2026 (day-and-date across platforms — the first mainline Halo title to launch on PlayStation). Xbox head of gaming Matt Booty has reiterated the game is "planned for 2026." Rumors and backend-data leaks (notably from "grunt.api" and a Korean retailer survey) point to a July 28, 2026 launch with early access from July 23, but neither Microsoft, Halo Studios, nor Sony has officially confirmed any specific date. The Xbox Games Showcase 2026 is scheduled for June 7, 2026 and is widely expected to be the venue where a firm release date could be revealed, though there is no guarantee Microsoft will reveal one then.
