Prediction market on manifold. Artemis program has plans for using Orion spacecraft to ferry the astronauts to the Lunar orbit, and then use Starship HLS to make the landing. This will require an ability for Starship to dock to other spacecrafts. As of March 2024, Artemis 3 flight is planned for September 2026. Starship docking should be tested before that. There are also speculations of other possible missions that would involve docking Starship to other spacecrafts, like Crew Dragon. This question will be resolved positively when we first see Starship docked to a non-Starship spacecraft, while in space. Docking should involve the docking adaptor, connecting to another spacecraft by e.g. holding it with a robotic arm doesn't count. However it will still count if two spacecrafts are docked, but the hatch between their interiors is not open. Update 2025-09-14 (PST) (AI summary of creator comment): Definition of "Starship" for this market Spacecraft is SpaceX-produced (or, if the company or the Starship+Superheavy program is sold, produced by the new owners) 9 m diameter Stainless-steel Main engines are Raptors or Raptors-derived, using metalox propellants The number of engines may vary What counts as "docked" Spacecraft are physically connected and either: have a pressurized gate for astronauts, or have an electrical connection, or have a connection for propellants or other materials, or can accelerate together under one craft's main engines Update 2025-09-15 (PST) (AI summary of creator comment): Definition of "Starship" (AND, not OR): Produced by SpaceX (or a successor that owns the Starship/Super Heavy program) 9 m diameter Stainless-steel structure/tanks Main engines are Raptors or Raptor-derived using metalox propellants Dragon is not considered "Starship" for this market. The 9 m diameter requirement remains even if SpaceX later changes the vehicle's diameter.
